COLUMBUS, GA. _ The 40 banana trees in Barbara Musselman's yard could be mistaken for a Latin American banana plantation.
To passersby on Rocky Ledge Drive, the 20-foot-tall plants wave their broad green leaves and chunky stems _ and some of them even flash bright yellow baby bananas.
"All of the sudden people look up," said Musselman, 65. "They don't expect to see bananas growing."
Musselman admits the fruit caught her off guard, too.
For the three years she's lived in her home, the trees never produced bananas.
Then strolling through her garden this past summer, she noticed dark purple leaves ...
