2003 JAN 8 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- At the recent Genesis Conference, the London Biotechnology Network (the biotech arm of business group London First) reported a record year of growth for biotechnology in the capital.
Network Director Simon Tarpey's opening remarks to an audience of over 700, referred to the latest review of the sector in London which highlighted:
* Spending on biotechnology-related research reached 300 million British pounds, largest in U.K.
* Over 20 new companies emerged or located in London the past year bringing the total to 90
