WASHINGTON -- Claritin, the nation's best-selling allergy drug, will switch to over-the-counter status this month.
The drug's manufacturer, Schering-Plough Corp., has not yet announced how much it will charge for the O-T-C version of the drug. Industry analysts expect it to sell for about $17, the amount charged in Canada for nonprescription Claritin.
However, the analysts believe the price may fall when other companies begin marketing their own O-T-C versions of loratadine, the generic name for the active ingredient in Claritin.
