CORRECTION: February 25, 2004 Unpublished correction per Stan Linhorst, Sr. Managing Editor The collapse of the golf dome in Clay in 2002 was not caused by the weight of snow. Manager Sean Hynes said it collapsed because a snow plow operator tore a 16-foot gash in it. Hynes said he and his partners had to bring the manufacturers from Canada to prove to the town that it would not collapse under the weight of snow.

The Clay Dome and Golf Center on Route 31 is losing about $19,000 per week since the dome collapsed after a Christmas snowstorm, its owners said.
