Jan. 4--PASCAGOULA, Miss.--Jimmy Breslin, a columnist for Newsday in Long Island, New York, slammed Mississippi in his Dec. 27 column, saying he was put off by plans to send steel from the World Trade Center towers to racist Pascagoula for construction of the USS New York.
He had choice words to say about Sen. Trent Lott and used a strong, extensive quote from Curley Clark, director of the Jackson County-Moss Point NAACP, to make key points in his column -- that the shipyard, now owned by Northrop Grumman, has hired blacks for mostly menial jobs and that the people who work there ...
