NORFOLK -- The carrier Theodore Roosevelt battle group will set sail Monday for the second of three required exercises that could certify it for early deployment.
The 11-ship battle group's composite training unit exercise, known as COMPTUEX, can take as long as four weeks. The exercise was moved up two weeks to speed up the ship's availability for fleet service.
COMPTUEX is the first time the battle group will train and operate together. In the exercise, required of all carrier groups, the ships must demonstrate their ability as a team.
