NAGS HEAD -- The search for the body of missing pilot John Hale Belnay continued unsuccessfully Friday after more than a week of recovery efforts.
The 62-year-old Kill Devil Hills resident's single-engine plane crashed into the Croatan Sound early Christmas morning two miles west of Dare County Regional Airport during a regular route from Elizabeth City to Manteo.
He was delivering packages for United Parcel Service when his plane went down in high wind and heavy fog.
