Defense giant Northrop Grumman Corp., in the process of buying rival TRW, Inc., said last month it will sell TRW's auto-parts business to a private investment company for $4.73 billion. The buyer, New York-based Blackstone Group, assembled what one report called the world's largest private-equity fund to make the purchase. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2003.
