Native American connections.

Native Americans were resident in this region for thousands of years before Moses Cleaveland founded the city. However, by the I 840s, most had left the area of the Western Reserve. Those who became part of the city's population in later years moved here, much like other immigrants.

By the early twentieth century, the tiny Indian community of Cleveland was largely a transient one. Census statistics show only two Native Americans lived in the city in 1900; forty-eight in 1910; and thirty-four in 1920.
