Steve Westly was sworn in as California State Controller today, bringing a new perspective to state government and to the role of independent fiscal watchdog for the citizens of California.
The new Controller noted that he is taking office during a difficult time that could also bring opportunity. "California is at a crossroads," Westly said. "We must address the spending patterns that led to the huge deficit, but in doing so, we have the power to improve the system and reinvent state government.
