Call it diversity, eclecticism or a generation gap. Eight artists - from Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bruce Springsteen and Grammy perennial Sheryl Crow to teen newcomers Avril Lavigne and Ashanti to hit rappers Eminem and Nelly - received five nominations each Tuesday for the 45th annual Grammy Awards.
The Grammy spotlight shone the brightest, though, on newcomer Norah Jones, 23, a slightly jazzy pop singer/pianist whose understated CD "Come Away with Me" on a jazz label has sold a remarkable 2.7 million copies.
