Just because Oregon's ballot initiative, "Measure 27;' mandating the labeling of "genetically engineered" (GE) food didn't pass during the November 2002 elections, doesn't mean that it won't resurface in that state, or elsewhere for that matter. The anti-biotechnology "zealots" are like "weebles"--they wobble, but they don't fall down.
The problem with Measure 27 isn't consumers' "right to know," it's how poorly the initiative was written, and the general lack of understanding of what GE encompasses.
