Jan. 8--PITTSBORO, N.C.--The Chatham County planning board deadlocked Tuesday night on whether to recommend approval of a controversial Buck Mountain Golf Community proposal that will go before the commissioners next month.
Bluegreen Corp. of Boca Raton, Fla., proposes to build 700 homes and an 18-hole golf course along 792 unzoned acres north of Pittsboro on the west side of Old Graham Road.
After nearly three hours of discussion, the planning board split 4-4 on whether to tell the commissioners to reject the large-scale development.
