Thiraphong Chansiri has restated his confidence that his company's profit for 2002 will exceed its 2001 result. Thiraphong is the president of Thai Union Frozen, the second-biggest tuna canning firm in the world. The company made a profit of 1.51 billion baht ($US35.1 million) for 2001. During the fourth quarter, Thiraphong said he expected that its 2002 results would be better than 2001. In early January 2003, he said that the company's 2002 fourth quarter earnings would be sufficiently strong enough to allow it to record a 2002 profit either equal to or in excess of his previous forecast.
