Two choices for us: despair or resistance
Though we are only a few days into 2003, already there is so much to look upon with fear and loathing.
Fundamentalisms, both at home and abroad, blind large chunks of humanity to the world's inescapable complexities. Sanctioned ignorance wields monstrous power in sectors public and private. The world's most powerful nation-state lurches almost heedlessly toward pre-emptive, unilateral, never-ending war. The principles for which the great revolutions of the past two and a half centuries struggled are being sacrificed at the altar of ``security.'' The spoils of the planet stand poised to be plundered by warlords ...
