PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 2003

Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq:ESIO) today announced a multiple unit order from Systron Donner for Model 4990 Laser Trimming Systems.

The systems will be shipped during ESI's third quarter, ending March 1, 2003.
