Jan. 9--CAMDEN, N.J.--The U.S. Attorney's Office filed a lawsuit against the Borough of Stone Harbor yesterday, seeking to compel the wealthy Shore community to remove dredge material from a beach near the habitat of endangered piping plovers.

Stone Harbor has breached a nearly two-year-old agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers allowing the borough to dredge its back bay in exchange for the testing and removal of the sand and mud retrieved from the river bottom, U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie said at a news conference.
