Jan. 11--American Airlines Inc. will furlough 343 St. Louis-based flight attendants at the end of the month as the carrier adjusts to a smaller flight schedule.
Including the latest announcement, American has laid off 2,401 flight attendants -- most of them former TWA employees -- since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, George Price, spokesman for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, said Friday.
The new round of layoffs was expected to be worse. American said last month that it intended to cut nearly 1,100 positions this winter. But in an ...
