Marc Basnight shakes his head. "My gosh. Would you look at them things?" The phone rings, and he tosses aside a bag containing peanuts the size of his thumb. They're from a farmer back in his district. "Good morning!" Mike Easley's voice booms. Basnight sprawls back in his chair. "Governor! How are you?" He mutes the speaker, clasps the handset to his ear and listens. "Don't worry, governor. The way we fixed it won't do any damage to you."
