Jan. 14--Thousands of workers lost their jobs in Tarrant County last year, although the cutbacks were significantly lighter than in 2001, according to preliminary figures.
Employers laid off at least 13,000 Tarrant County workers in 2002, according to data compiled by Work Advantage, the work force development board in Tarrant County. But that number fell far short of the roughly 17,000 jobs lost in Tarrant County in 2001.
