Jan. 14--A proposal to slow trucks to 55 mph on New Jersey highways could stall before it reaches the entrance ramp.
Transportation Commissioner Jack Lettiere said Monday that New Jersey is "not a candidate" for such a move, which would create two speed limits on more than 400 miles of 65 mph road.
Even so, Lettiere said he will continue discussing that option, a hot topic among motorists, trucking groups, and others looking to curb accidents involving large trucks. For instance, the AAA is against two speed limits, but the Insurance Institute for Highway ...
