Jan. 15--Duke Power President Bill Coley will retire next month, after 37 years of helping mold a Southern utility into a global energy giant, parent company Duke Energy Corp. said Tuesday.
Ruth Shaw, a high-ranking executive at Duke Energy and a champion of Charlotte civic involvement, will replace him at the end of February. Already the only woman on Duke Energy's powerful Policy Committee, she will become Duke Power's first female president.
