ATLANTA _ January is not usually a big sports month in the Big Peach.
The Braves are weeks away from opening spring training, the Hawks are typically underwhelming, and the Thrashers, well, let's just say they are still trying to get started. There are many, many empty seats in Philips Arena these days.
And the Falcons? They most often are packed up and gone home for the rest of the winter. Just like the expansive Bermuda-grass practice fields at their training facility 45 miles from downtown, football most often has gone brown and dormant by now.
