IT'S ANOTHER setback for Robin Cook's increasingly unpopular reforms in the Houses of Parliament. First a group of MPs announces plans to overturn his new family friendly working hours in the Commons.
Now I hear the Leader of the House has been forced to abandon his proposals to build a high-tech visitor centre in the medieval Westminster Hall, where the Queen Mother lay in state last year.
Under the scheme reported last month, the 1000-year-old hall would have been installed with plasma screens, a video wall, underfloor heating and stainless steel 'travellator' walkways guiding visitors round exhibits explaining the history of Parliament.
