I REMEMBER whispering to a colleague during my first week as a sports reporter in the Irish News that the small guy with the red hair who had just walked by carrying a camera, was Hughie Russell.
"Yeah, I know. So what?" was the response.
So what?, I asked. That's Hughie Russell, the Olympic medalist and Lonsdale belt holder!
Hugh Russell came to my primary school once to show off his Olympic bronze medal, won in Moscow back in 1980.
