Jan. 19--With all the stores and restaurants that keep popping up across the area, some people perceive there's enough retail. Maybe even too much.
But an extensive retail market study that was commissioned by the city of South Bend and released last week suggests the South Bend-Mishawaka area can support even more retail.
The reason is clear to the national companies, although it is not always obvious to local residents: Retailers in South Bend-Mishawaka can count on attracting shoppers from 60 miles away.
