While FIX has become the de facto standard for the equities market in Europe, the buy side continues to lag far behind the sell side in adopting the protocol.
That is the conclusion of a study of European institutions released earlier this month by Oxford-based IT management consultancy DCE on behalf of FIX Protocol Ltd. The study, which was conducted between April and November of last year, was based on information provided by 43 institutional fund managers, 25 broker-deals and 47 technology vendors in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.
Of sell-side firms, 85 percent were FIX-enabled and 8 percent had plans to implement the protocol. In ...
