The story on these pages was written after Matthew, then age 7, went to a clinic to undergo dental surgery. Immediately following the surgery, Matthew drew the pictures, then asked his mother to "make it into a book." Matthew often expresses his thoughts and feelings through drawing. Matthew's mother, Rita, provided the explanations for each page.
The cover of Matthew's book is a drawing of him asleep with the IV in his arm wrapped up with gauze. The Z shapes going up and around the title represent "zzz" because Matthew is asleep. His eyes are closed. The doctor is holding his hand. Matthew named his doctor "Dr. Head" because he was wearing a big, puffed-up ...
