Finding some truth in his self-defense claims, a McHenry County jury convicted Jessie Steven Estrada of second-degree murder Wednesday for the fatal stabbing of a high school classmate last year.
Defense attorneys called the verdict a significant victory for the McHenry teen, who was charged with first-degree murder.
Jurors deliberated less than three hours before arriving at the verdict, which could send Estrada's case back to juvenile court, where he would face a maximum punishment of three years and eight months in a youth detention center. If Judge Sharon Prather decides to keep the case in ...
