While Oscar fever lingered down the road in Los Angeles, more than 300 companies introduced nearly 700 new or improved products to 30,888 visitors at Westec 2001 this spring. Co-sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association (AMTDA) and AMT--The Association For Manufacturing Technology, Westec boasted such new features as three separate pavilions--the Rapid Prototyping and Design Pavilion, the International Pavilion and the Job Shop Pavilion.
