WASHINGTON _ President Bush's nominee for Treasury Secretary declined to fight a 1988 court case accusing him of being a deadbeat dad and was arrested for drunken driving in 1982, according to a questionnaire he filled out for his upcoming Senate confirmation hearing.
White House officials Tuesday night expressed confidence that the embarrassing disclosures would not derail John Snow's chances of serving as President Bush's chief economic spokesman, but the revelations give Democrats ammunition to use against him.
