NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY TO APPEAL PROPOSED NRC FINE
BUCHANAN, N.Y., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York Power Authority will appeal a $50,000 fine proposed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The NRC alleged that two control room operators at the Indian Point 3 Nuclear Power Plant were not fully attentive while on duty on Sept. 14.
The Power Authority said an internal investigation concluded that both were attentive to their duties.
John C. Brons, the Power Authority's executive vice president nuclear generation, said "We agree with the NRC's position that absolute attentiveness is necessary on the part of our operators. ...
