Jan. 22--Charlie Ergen, the chief executive and founder of EchoStar Communications, may be considering a sale of the Littleton satellite-TV company to his biggest rivals, according to media reports.
EchoStar officials have reportedly talked with News Corp. and Liberty Media Corp. about a sale of the company, which provides the Dish Network service, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
Industry analysts suspect Ergen may be worried that his company can't compete effectively on its own against cable-TV competitors, which are rolling out more advanced services.
