Those people involved in the wireless data industry for a number of years can remember when some insiders had visions of hockey sticks dancing in their heads. That hockey stick has gone the way of the dot-bombs and has been replaced by a beginner's ski hill, but it still is on the upward path.

Gartner Dataquest is predicting that the number of wireless data users in the United States will increase from 23.7 million last year to 34.8 million in 2003, rising to 74.6 million in 2006. Maybe not hockey-stick numbers, but still fairly dramatic growth.
