Jan. 22--Pittsburgh school officials are studying a proposal to replace the district's 31-year-old night school program with after-school and Saturday classes for high school students needing to complete certain subjects to graduate on time.
District administrators recommended a change because, according to 2001-02 statistics, 40 percent of the students in the Standard Evening School failed courses in the first semester and 11 percent earned D's.
