Bryan Boutwell has a vision for Syracuse's art community and a knack for getting others to listen to him.
Last February, the young artist and promoter met with the owners of the Coffee Pavilion in Hanover Square to propose an open microphone night Mondays featuring poetry, music and other kinds of performances.
"It was a hit right from the start," said Bill Harper, co-owner of the coffee shop.
Boutwell duplicated that success last Thursday with the start of another open mike night at the new Onajava Coffee Place at 387 W. Onondaga St. About 85 people jammed Onajava to listen, perform and watch 24 ...
