So many people run themselves ragged getting ready for Christmas each year that few could imagine throwing the biggest and best of the holiday parties almost a week into the new year.
But that's what residents of this area did centuries ago - and again last week at a house on Virginia Beach Boulevard, teeming with guests adorned in exquisite gowns and formal attire.
