Jan. 25--A proposed convention center for Las Cruces has received top billing in the New Mexico Senate.
A bill that would assess an additional $2.50 charge on hotel rooms in Las Cruces was introduced by Sen. Mary Jane Garcia, D-Dona Ana, on Tuesday, the first day of the Legislature's 60-day session. The legislation has been classified as Senate Bill 1, and that designation has traditionally been considered by the Senate as a high priority for the state.
