NEW ORLEANS - Yes, I too like watching attractive young women exposing parts of their bodies in public, but that's not what Mardi Gras is about.
OK, maybe it is a little of what Mardi Gras is about. Back in 1889, a New Orleans newspaper reported there was a degree of immodesty exhibited by nearly all the female masqueraders on the street. Of course, that was Victorian-era immodesty, like women showing their ankles or wearing flashy clothing. But it's proof that the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday (March 4 this year) has for a long, long time managed to bring out everyday people's wild sides.
