DAVID McGRORY remembers one of Coventry's best-loved local historians.
ABRAHAM William Jephcott was born in 1886 "in a small house at the rear of an old fashioned grocers shop at the bottom of Smithford Street" - somewhere he later identified as being on the site of the circular caf in Lower Precinct.
During his lifetime he saw Coventry transformed but never lost his love of the city.
