Whether you know it or not, you have probably heard some version of a George Gershwin tune. Gershwin was a composer who, even after his death 66 years ago, is beloved by many for his brilliant songs.
Born in 1898 to a Russian-Jewish immigrant family in Brooklyn, N.Y., Gershwin had a close relationship with his brother, Ira. Together, they composed classic songs such as, "Embraceable You," "Fascinating Rhythm," "I Got Rhythm" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me."
