The Mount Prospect Park District will ask voters on April 1 to help shore up the district's revenue stream by approving a 12 1/2- cent tax rate increase.
The increase, which commissioners agreed on Wednesday to pursue, would apply only to the recreation fund, and it would lift that fund's tax rate to 20 cents per $100 in equalized assessed valuation. The fund covers expenses related to the district's recreational programs and some of its day-to-day operations.
The existing rate of 7 1/2 cents has not been increased since the park district was formed in 1955.
