Jan. 27--The Better Business Bureau's Web site is a good place for consumers to check up on the reputability of companies.
But an evil twin of the upstate BBB's Web site appears to have operated for up to four months, designed to lend credibility to a fictitious investment company, BBB officials said.
The copycat site was identical to the real thing, with one difference: It listed a supposed financial company called "Parker Jennings" as an upstanding member. But the BBB has no record of the company -- and neither do financial regulators.
