Abstract
This study reveals the author's journey of her teaching and researching practice. The Japanese teaching philosophy of "plan, do, see" resembles closely the common components of action research of plan, act, observe, and reflect. Also included is a report on a project designed to resolve the contradiction between traditional and positivistic approaches to home economics that focus on production and those that focus on human development Finally, the author describes three cycles of teaching and research and discusses action research as a method of redesigning the project.
