TOKYO, Dec 27 Asia Pulse - Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian said recently that he hopes to sign a free trade agreement with Japan to safeguard the Asia-Pacific region's economic security.
The president also said he believes that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait will certainly resume dialogue as well as improve their relations.
President Chen made the remarks while meeting with reporters from the Japanese daily Sankei Shimbun at the presidential office.
According to the newspaper's report, President Chen told the Japanese journalists that concluding a Taiwan-Japan free trade agreement will safeguard economic security in the Asia-Pacific region.
