A passenger boarding a San Francisco-bound United Airlines flight found a retractable box cutter stashed in a backseat pouch at Logan International Airport yesterday - a security breach that triggered outrage from travelers and aviation experts.
While passengers were immediately hustled off Flight 179, officials at the Transportation Security Administration downplayed the discovery.
"I don't want to see those on the aircraft . . . but we're not perfect," said George Naccara, head of the regional TSA office.
