If the Colorado Rockies and closer Jose Jimenez go to an arbitration hearing, it will be Feb. 17 in St. Petersburg, Fla. That date could work in the club's favor because the hearings for Billy Koch and Kelvim Escobar, the other closers who filed for arbitration, are scheduled later.
The Rockies offered Jimenez a $3.2 million salary for this season. He filed for $3.9 million, setting up a midpoint of $3.55 million. One year ago, the parties settled at a midpoint of $1,937,500 and avoided a hearing when
Jimenez's salary request was $2.275 million and the Rockies filed at $1.6 million.
