Ah, the mid-1990s. What a heady time it was for those exploring assessment and technology. Thanks to the work of Grant Wiggins and others, assessment ideas like portfolios, performance tasks and rubrics had begun to take hold among teachers who sought a more well-rounded view of their students' achievement.
On the technology side, multimedia was reaching full flower and all eyes were on the new phenomenon of the Internet. Technology-using educators found themselves getting excited all over again about what computers and kids could do together.
