Jan. 31--FORT WORTH, Texas--Concrete contractor Ray Brooks paid $67,956 Thursday to Tarrant County tax officials, who were preparing to seize his construction equipment to settle a delinquent tax bill.
Brooks was confronted at his southeast Fort Worth business by County Tax Assessor Betsy Price and tax attorneys from three governmental entities to which the firm owed 2001 and 2002 property taxes.
Price said she stepped up efforts to collect Brooks' delinquent 2001 taxes and 2002 taxes, due today, because Brooks' problems with the Fort Worth school ...
