Shanghai Telecom eyes 51% stake in South Africa's second fixed-line license via Optis Telecom
Shanghai. January 31. INTERFAX-CHINA - China Telecom, the largest fixed-line telecom carrier in China, plans to accelerate its expansion in the global marketplace following its dual listing late last year in Hong Kong and New York. Shanghai Telecom, a regional subsidiary of China Telecom, is reported to have participated in the bidding for a 51% stake in the second South African fixed-line telephone license, and based a team to the country to work on the bid.
